engaging blog features help bring repeat visitors
Creating a compelling reason for readers to return to your blog to check out what’s new naturally blends with your goals for becoming a respected blogger and commenter. Page views will increase, mutual links will form and ideally you will make some sales of your fiber art. (subscription with an RSS feed is a must strategy) Perhaps you’ve noticed the striped color bars on most of my posts. I want to add a recognizable bit of personality to my blog posts. It’s usually at the end, but not always.![]()
Come up with a simple logo or mini header or icon or feature that visually enhances your blog and fits with the look and feel you want to portray in your blogging. Is there a small area on your blog or maybe a theme that you can change with each post that would be recognizable as part of your brand? One quilter’s blog uses a virtual jigsaw theme each post for a bit of fun that draws readers back to her site.

Cardiogirl uses “to-day’s mood is…” with one image that she changes for each of her posts, low top tennis shoes. Saving the file in png, (because png will show a transparent background) in this case projects energy, although the moods shown here are chagrined and chaotic. Notice the colors and prints match the moods. A tennis shoe is a logical fit for Cardiogirl’s blog theme and her writing style. See for yourself how Cardiogirls’s writing is powerful and concise.
If you decide to use this tip and come up with a novel and interesting idea, take a few minutes reviewing your past posts to see if you can update them. Now is a good time to also to make minor improvements, extend previous posts, update a key page on your blog, hunt for dead links, improve your hyperlink words and phrases.
Your comments on adding personality with a basic image that you change are very welcome. On a future post I can showcase some of your creations.
Let’s see what we can come up with!
