Elemental Shapes that speak to master quilt maker Jane Sassaman
The colorful, energetic and delightful quilts that Jane S. Sassaman creates stimulate an uncommon sense of curiosity and adventure for the viewer.
Jane has created over 75 garden inspired quilts in her personal quest to explore the beauty, magic and majesty of the core shapes and emotions that we call Nature. Luckily for us, patterns for the quilts shown here are FREE.
Jane is on a mission to design the most beautiful fabrics imaginable. Her fabric productions are designed so that quilters can make incredibly ornate looking quilts with simple piecing using these extraordinarily graphic fabrics.
Jane describes her design principal as basically collage-like, both for the fabrics themselves as well as her original sewing pattern designs.
On her website, Jane graciously has provided free patterns and templates for many projects. In these photos of the free pattern quilts you can see one of Jane’s favorite design methods, squares set on point.
Try to imagine the personal meanings that Jane Sassaman absorbs from the many symbolic shapes that reoccur in her wonderful and wild mind-garden.
